St Pius Invitational Meet Info for Coaches

1. The 1 mile run for both boys and girls is the “Lisa Short Memorial 1 Mile Run”.

2. Each athlete will be given a competitor number (Comp #).  All competitor numbers must be recorded on the right hand of each athlete prior to competition.  Athletes will not be allowed to compete unless they have a competitor number assigned (in advance) and recorded on their hand.

3. All athletes should begin checking into their event when they hear the first call for their event announced over the loud speaker.

Check-in officials will be instructed to wait an appropriate amount of time before scratching anyone from an event, but athletes and coaches must communicate any potential conflicts between events with the official prior to the start of the event.

4. Please inform the check-in clerk of any scratches in an event as soon as possible.

5. Coaches may substitute one athlete for another athlete on the day of the meet if the new athlete already has a competitor number.  We will not otherwise add athletes to an event and we will not issue competitor numbers on the day of the meet.

6. If an athlete is found to have competed in more than three individual events, then that athlete will be disqualified from competition.  All athletes must also compete under their own name.  Competing under a different name will get both athletes disqualifed.

7. In the event of bad weather, then we may need to consider a postponement or even cancellation for that day.  The presence of lightning and thunder does not necessarily mean that the meet will be cancelled for that day.

If bad weather occurs, then we will first announce a postponement of the meet and then wait to consider whether the weather will improve or not.  If improvement looks unlikely, then we will announce a cancellation for that day’s events and will move the remaining events for that day to the beginning of the next day of competition.  If cancellations or postponements do not allow us to complete all events by last day (Sunday), then an announcement will be made as to how we will address the situation.

8. Please ask your parents to stay out of the area of competition.  Please ask your parents to refrain from asking the meet workers any questions or from making comments to the meet workers.  Any and all questions or concerns should be directed to a head meet official (i.e. the official in charge of a particular event or the head check-in clerk) through the coach.  Meet workers will be directed to refer all questions or concerns to a head event official.

9. All meet info – including entry info, performance list, results, etc. – will be posted at the meet website:  http://www.ahsdistance.org/stpiusinvite
